Overview

I joined University of Exeter in 2021 as a PhD student in the Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and metabolism group. My PhD is supported jointly by University of Exeter and China Scholarship Council (CSC).

PhD project description: My project aims to investigate and compare the correlations between different NO biomarkers (nitrate, nitrite, S-nitrothiols) in different blood compartments and skeletal muscle and cardiovascular health and exercise performance following dietary nitrate supplementation in humans.  I am also interested in exploring the influences of dietary nitrate ingestion on mitochondria respiration efficiency both in vivo and in vitro.

Supervisors: Prof. Andrew Jones and Prof. Anni Vanhatalo
